My review of Laura Stark’s The Magical Self:Body Society and the Supernatural in Early Modern Rural Finland is available on-line at the Journal of Folklore Research (so, yes — it’s a peer-reviewed journal which helps the CV). Now I need to find a minute to update the CV and bibliography (in my abundant free time).

Fabulous! A review that makes me want to read the material!
Oooohh!! I never heard of this journal…I want to read it.Can I get it on JSTOR?
I’m not sure, but I think so. If not JSTOR, try Academic Search Premier. I bet it might be there.
Great review! Anything about Finnish culture fascinates me, and this sounds like a very interesting book. I looked up the author – she is quite the scholar on the subject. Her name is not Finnish but she must have some connection?
Yup — she used to be “Stark-Arola” so I guess her husband was Finnish. She’s on the faculty at the University of Helsinki, too. She writes a lot on Finnish magic. You can read one of her articles on raising lempi here.
