Bowie: Voyeur

I was disappointed not to be able to attend the Late Bowie conference at Kingston University London (whose Matt Melia also put on that resonant Ken Russell conference a few years back), but I was delighted when they put out a call for video work to play between events — honouring of course Bowie’s multimedia career.

My video ‘Voyeur’ speaks to that legacy as well as to the disconcerting moment in which we find ourselves (well, slightly more positive today after the US election results and the rainbow wave that’s rising) with a dash of Guy Debord’s spectacle. In other words it’s a mash-up of noise, distortion, public domain footage, and my badge from the V&A Bowie exhibit (there’s a new one just opened at the Dundee V&A, too!). It’s the second video in the playlist above.

This is probably the only time I’ll be standing (virtually) next to Tony Visconti, so I’m going to make the most of it.
