PCA is a terrific conference: I get to hang out with the fabulous Miss Wendy, and friends like Frenchy and Chris and met new friends like Rebecca and Rio. My paper went well despite my being the only panelist and it taking place on the evening of the first day when most sensible people had gone off to dinner. There was a good audience and a lot of questions and discussion at the end. Miss Wendy’s panel which included Frenchy went well. Frenchy’s new project on cosplay looks terrific. Wendy’s paper on horror images in manga was fascinating, though she went through the images too quickly. Some really disturbing stuff!
We had beautiful weather on Saturday where we all snuck away to enjoy the Pre-Raphaelite exhibit at the National Gallery of Art, Kite Day on the Mall, pastries in Chinatown and then the International Spy Museum, which had on “Exquisitely Evil: 50 Years of Bond Villains” — plus we not only got in free with our PCA badges, but they took us to the head of the line too. Swanky!
Oodles to catch up on so here’s a bunch of pictures. Click to embiggen:
Sounds like a good one Kate.
It was a lovely time.
Love the pics … specially the peek-a-boo one through the trees at the lit-up mansion!
Yeah, that one turned out rather lovely. Just the right time of day.
