Leonor Fini: Small Faces is at Nagas Gallery through May 24th and it’s a great opportunity to see some of Fini’s delicate work up close in an intimate environment. It is important to know that the gallery is on the second floor facing the street and you need to buzz the (at the time) unmarked buzzer or phone the number on the website. Ilian was most helpful in providing all the details and gave us a wonderful visit including a peek at some art that was not on display.
If you’re used to Fini’s sumptuous paintings, these portraits will hypnotise you with their balance of bold eyes and mobile limbs and hair. You can almost see the artist’s hand moving as she creates the images–they’re so alive. It’s a small but very rich exhibit that showcases the skill of the artist who learned to draw with the masters in Italian museums. Stephanie and I were swooning!
