Alchemy Anarchy: 1P RPG

Alchemy Anarchy game cover

‘You never know what is enough unless you know what is more than enough You can never know enough without knowing more than enough; the road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom,’ or so said William Blake. (I should look it up as I never remember quotes quite right, but I’m fairly certain about the second half. Anyway, it’s not the point!)

The point is yes, another one page RPG! ALCHEMY ANARCHY!

Here’s the thing: thinking up a 1p RPG-shaped idea leads to thinking of other similarly shaped ideas so why not act upon them? Obviously, too, this fits into my various obsessions and offers an easy way to let people know a little more about alchemy in a fun way. Do game dynamics lead to cutting corners and making reductive choices? You bet your boots, but that will just spur people to do more research surely! Okay, maybe not — but maybe! Who can say?

You are alchemists in Prague, each hoping to impress Emperor Rudolph with your skills. To gain his approbation you must create a Philosopher’s Stone.

Gather the all the necessary elements required to complete the requisite steps to refine the prize for the Emperor and receive riches plus a comfortable sinecure within the court.

Name your price (never mind all the complicated figuring that went into this wee game, you don’t have to compensate me for my time sob!). This game requires 3-5 players and a D6 die. Alchemical lab optional!

Will there be more games? It is distinctly possible, though I should remember I have two presentations coming up as well…
