One Hundred Years of Surrealism: 1p RPG

I warned you, didn’t I? Yes, a third game in the space of a week because once you have a container it’s a simple thing to fill it with ideas! Okay, I am perhaps characteristically underplaying the concept because actually this is a completely different form than the pervious games of chance. This is a solo journaling game, which is just as it sounds: a person downloads the page of prompts and follows them through. The game?

A solo art journal diversion in which you seek to join the Surrealists in Paris one hundred years ago! Each prompt should be an entry in your portfolio (journal) which may take any form: words, images, splashes of blood…

The aim is to create a portfolio which you will use to try to gain admittance to the Surrealist group in Paris. Will you succeed? Only Breton can tell — or maybe not. You’ll just have to play to find out.

Lovely photo there from the Surrealist Valentine Ball 1937. Yes, I did call the game Cent ans de Surréalisme, but I knew that would perplex too many people so everywhere on the game page it has the English name. Look, the Surrealists made me learn French, so I feel free to inflict it on others (winky face, mes amis).

Will there be more games after this busy week? Who can say? I am already planning to turn this one into a publication because I really stretched the parameters of the format and it would benefit from having room to breathe, but it will require the aid of the fabulous QoE Stephanie as my design abilities fall woefully short.

And I haven’t tried a letter-writing RPG…
