Jellyfish

Unexpected theme of yesterday’s wander: jellyfish. I’d never seen so many here. Maybe they’re spawning like grunion. See more photos here. If I had more time, I might look it up, but I don’t. I’m trying not to get overwhelmed by packing (not like last year!). At least I don’t have much stuff. I have been good about not buying things. I am sad to leave Ireland (at least during the day — when the emo band next door starts practising, I relish the short span) but I am off to Scotland next, so I can’t complain much.

I’m leaving just before all the big festivals kick off: the arts fest, the sailing fest, the film fest and of course the Galway Races. The banners in South Park taunt me with all I’ll be missing. But I’ve learned in this year that you can’t do everything. There’s a lot I didn’t do — it just means I’ll have to come back. There’s so much more I did do — like get my priorities straight. Change is in the air. You can fight it, but I’m going to go ahead and make the most of it.

Be sure to drop by Un:Bound and see my review for Graham Joyce’s Some Kind of Fairy Tale. Loved that book. So busy lately! I haven’t quite figured out how to give the blog page its own header, but I can’t quite abandon the old blog, so I’ll keep it as a footer until I figure out a better (and automatic!) way to incorporate the theme.
