The last Himes I read I struggled with and that was in English! The End of a Primitive, nearly the end of my eyeballs as I was tempted to gouge them with a spoon so I could experience an different type of pain when reading it.

My students will be reading Cotton Comes to Harlem. Will be interesting to see what they make of it.
