Who’s super busy? Me. Yes, I am saying no to things — mostly so I can say YES to things I am enthusiastic about (yes, it’s still a struggle not to overburden my time). Some of them quite fun. I have two conference presentations coming up next month and another in December. I have a…

#InternationalPodcastDay
Hey, it’s apparently International Podcast Day, so I remind you that I have TWO podcasts/internet radio shows appealing to a super-niche clientele of oddballs and hipsters. SURREAL NOIR via NoBounds Radio IS IT FUNNY? via Anchor and many platforms: new episode on Muriel Spark coming when I return to NY. Just a reminder, too, that…
Surreal Noir 22 Sep 21
The Equinox brings the monthly return of SURREAL NOIR at NoBounds Radio. This episode brings together another unlikely pair: Alice Rahon and Patricia Highsmith. This episode may sound a little different: cobbled together from the phone and recordings made in hasty moments when I could find a little quiet here at my dad’s. Not easy…
Listen Now: Surreal Noir 25 Aug 21
After a brief delay the August program has been archived: Surreal portraiture—Muse or artist? Can you fall in love with a picture? Can you fall in love with someone from a picture? Time being short and my memory even shorter, here are some films I didn’t immediately write up and can’t access again to double check impressions so I will be vague but enthusiastic. TOVE (2020) Director: Zaida BergrothWriter:…

Dora Maar @ Tate Modern
Although my main goal for the flying visit to London in January was Blake, there were plenty of things to be seen. And going from Tate to Tate is always a good excuse to hop on a boat. It’s more expensive than taking the tube or busses, but you can’t beat the view. I was…
Art in the Armoury NYC
Another fabulous day of shenanigans down in the city with my art-partner-in-crime the QoE Stephanie; the Wendy Norris Gallery had Carrington and Varo and an opportunity to see them up close without crowds (NYC was very quiet — corona panic, I guess). I was so intoxicated by being close to these works I think I took…
