Finally, a little time to finish my Finland odyssey! I just typed “the end” on the doc for White Rabbit, my supernatural crime novel. It’s taken a bit longer to complete it (over a year) because it didn’t have a deadline, so anything with a deadline cut ahead of it in line. As I was saying on Facebook yesterday, it’s always a mixed emotion to finish a big project like that: there’s the satisfaction of finally being done, but the yearning to spend more time with characters you enjoy (yes, possibilities of more to do with them).
Now: back to Lapland!
When they dammed the river at Kemi, they put in a fish ladder for the salmon.During the spawning season, you can watch them climb. There’s even a glass window to watch underwater. There were no salmon around but the bubbles made interesting images anyway.Taking safety seriously.Sanni and Helvi are right next door to Helka; they invited us over for coffee (and tea :-)).I love the old doll house!Antti shows off his Angry Birds socks.Sanni and Helvi, our lovely hostesses.Sanni knitted these beautiful socks — I can’t wait for it to be cool enough to wear them!Amazing Lapland skies: this is now the wallpaper on my phone to remind me of the beauty there.A fine send off from Helka, Antti and Eila: I had such a wonderful visit.Näkemiin, Kemi. I will be back!
Looks like I need one more post about the last day in Helsinki — hope you don’t mind 😉 I have a bunch more pictures to share including a yummy dinner with Anni at a restaurant on the shore.
Congrats on typing, ‘The End.’
Love those socks!!!
Thanks! And yes, they’re even nicer in person. Sanni is really skilful!
