Of course you know that Tarot is full of magic — but that wasn’t always known. The card game invented in fifteenth century Italy only developed an occult tradition in eighteenth century France. Why then? Who started it? What kicked it off? How different was their use of the Tarot from our own? Come learn about the people who shaped the traditions of Tarot and how they continue to influence us today.

Come join me at STAR + SPLENDOR in Altamont, NY, for a talk about how tarot has changed of centuries of use and how magical practices changed over time and what about this Etteilla fellow? And Mademoiselle Lenormand — did she really predict Danton’s downfall and Napoleon’s rise? I will have a few pictures from my sojourns to the Academia Carrera in Bergamo, Italy and to the Morgan Library in NYC.

Yes, Aldegonde Perenna, the Polish Sibyl, will be a part of things, too — and I’ll talk more about where she fits into the history and why so many people make a leg before Papus (more on him soon, too!) and how tarot exploded even further in the twentieth century. And there will be copies for sale!

Facts, myths, conjectures, and a lot of fun (and weird!) facts, too. If you can’t get to upstate New York, get someone in your area to bring me around to give a talk (my prices are pretty reasonable)! Or wait for the book but you know, I have a lot going on so who knows when I’ll get it done.
