Thanks to Bertie’s recommendation I have started watching Voilà Brigitte, which comes in wee bite-sized episodes on the ‘tube. They’re perfect for taking breaks from the presentation I’m writing for ISSS later this month — or should I say wrestling into submission (I hope!). The eons that exist between the proposal and the presentation hold centuries and planets and ideas far too ambitious. What made me think I could cover all that in a mere 20 minutes?! So a lot of what I am doing is choosing and cutting and deciding which is very stressful. And simultaneously thinking about the slide show which has derailed me to a certain extent because Fini brings up all these cat paintings, some of which I knew but many I did not and then I have to go looking for them. And then there’s Salomon Meijer who painted four versions of ‘Vreemde Inhoud’ (picture below) so no wonder I kept finding what I thought were fake or altered versions —
Anyhoo. Brigitte, a poisson out of l’eau story with some interesting twists and a chance to practice your français. A great little break on your computer. And having spent the summer fishing with Paul and Bob and Ted through all the episodes, we had to find something new so Mark and I started Ann Droid. The adverts were not great but trusting the cast and creators was the right choice. Diane Morgan, Sue Johnston, Kathryn Hunter all make for a terrific time.
