Helsinki

I was glad to spend the fourth of July mostly in Helsinki having lunch with a friend and buying gifts at the Moomin shop. The ferry over from Tallinn is a smooth trip across the gulf in the early hours. I dozed and watched the waves. Helsinki seemed so cacophonous after a few days in the Old Town. It was great to see Laura and have a leisurely lunch. Next time a longer visit. I did have time to make a run through Kiasma, but that will be a separate post. The ‘Feels Like Home’ exhibit was particularly poignant. Fun to see again some of my first memories of Helsinki, the Väinämöinen and Ilmarinen statues and of course Stockmann, because you always meet up under the clock.
