Following on the success of Women in Revolt, the Tate B has installed an exhibit of women artists in Britain from the 16th century to the present. Not all the periods are of interest to me but I am wholeheartedly celebrating a belated — and hopefully not singular — recognition of the work of women artists ignored, dismissed and often appropriated by their male counterparts and all museums for centuries.
Paintings but also sculpture and in the latter part photography and books are included in the displays. And then you can wander the museum at large which has a few more women in recent years, though not nearly enough of them. This is barely a few (AKA me saying ‘I won’t take all the pictures and then still taking far too many, but I need to feed my head often).
