The 20th Anniversary Conference of the Finnish Institute in Japan was devoted to Tove Jansson: Visual Artist. Writer. Landscape Enthusiast. Woman. I was delighted to give a keynote lecture on living art everyday like Tove. It was the one thing I didn’t get pictures of! I have started the overwhelming task of uploading all the pictures I took. A few here: many more on FB — and there are even more than that!
And that’s not even including all the other photos I took in Tokyo. Bit by bit.
Our venue was Meiji Kinenkan, once a royal palace, now a favourite of wedding planners everywhere (a traditional wedding kimono above). Folks from around the globe talk, danced and sang about Tove Jansson’s art, novels, stories, songs, comics and more. It was quite delightful and informative. Here’s a few photos: click to embiggen.
