I usually manage to get a snap of the poster for an exhibition and somehow I managed to miss doing that. It was probably the decision to stop at the White Swan and have a nice burger and a pint of Guinness. I even watched the cricket (my sweetie would approve). Another hot day in London which started at the Guildhall and a walk to the TateM and then more stifling passages through the Tube and ugh. But it was worth it to see the terrific Ithell Colquhoun exhibit. I will say there’s a terrific book by Amy Hale that’s available from Strange Attractor that I highly recommend. If you can’t get to this exhibit (or to the previous one in Cornwall — sigh!) this book will give a great introduction and insight into this singular artist.
I won’t post all the pictures I took: this was a grand assemblage that I took a long time to go through (as did most of the other people that day — I kept seeing them revisit many of the pictures I went back to gaze upon). From her earliest works, to her engagement with surrealism and magic, as well as how the two entwined, and ending with her stunning Taro deck. Seeing all the cards laid out was astounding — the relationships between the colours and forms was visible in a way seeing them individually was not.

Maybe I should make a video: choosing is so hard! But here’s some tarot (and related) images:
